Promises, promises...

I have never managed to stick to my New Year's resolutions. I can finish books, coursework and decorating, but anything that will make a notable impact on my life, I seem to shy away from. Why? I have no idea. But that is my inspiration for one of my resolutions!

Here's my list:
  • Stick to resolutions
  • Change my life for the better
  • Follow my own advice
Pretty broad resolutions there, but if effective, 2013 and every other year, will be a hell of a lot better than 2012! The blessings have all been blessings in disguise really, I've lost friends, regained friends and maintained friends, now I know who matter to me the most; Liberty (http://libertymariefairley.blogspot.co.uk/) and Jamie are my girls and they mean the world to me! It feels abnormal to lose someone that knows literally everything about you, and I've done that twice this year, but only one I'm grateful for. I've lost a best friend, but if he was meant to stay, he would've and I would've fought to keep him. The break up I went through this year was absolute hell, and one of the heavily disguised blessings. At the time I was distraught and broken, but now I've got me back! I have a new attitude towards life and I need to maintain that, Liberty, Jamie, little Laura and Dylan will be the main ones that help me with that simply by being there, and they will make 2013 perfect in comparison to 2012!

I wish everyone a Happy New Year, and stick to your resolutions!

Lots of love x x x

#3 A taste of destruction

The anticipation made clear in her trembling lips, the strength of his hands on each side of her face conflicting the fragility of their situation. They shouldn't do this, they are parallels, they are toxic when combined. But in this state of euphoria, their adrenaline rushing and rising along with their nerves as well as excitement, they are in love.
They had never been more concious of eachother, she had never appreciated the passionate glow of his glazed green eyes, just as he had not sympathized with the depth of her doe-eyed hazels. They simply stared, as if they were exploring eachother's souls to discover any last hope or reason to hold onto the relationship they once had cherished. The longing, the need, the disappointment.
His hands travelled from her face, down her neck, across her shoulders and fell to her hands. Their fingers instinctively fitted into eachother. To him, her hands felt more fragile, her grip was tighter than ever, but she felt weak, all he could feel were the bones, as if she had been drained. Drained of strength, drained of life and drained of hope. And yet to her, he still felt powerful, strong and she knew she needed him.
It was him who was in control, she was lost in her constantly rearranging headspace, she could see no way out, her feelings were blocking the window that she needed to see. She needed to see the happiness that was within her reach if only she could let go, let go of the her that he had created.
He released one hand, and raised it to her hair, he brushed the stray strands behind her ear, she leaned into his hand and gently kissed his palm. It intoxicated him, he was weakened. He turned her face so that they were eye to eye, nose to nose, and their breaths were meeting between them. They kissed. They were enchanted in a moment of silence, intensity and bliss. It ended suddenly, and with a look of panic in his eyes, he left without a single word; leaving her clueless, confused and caught. Still caught in his game. She was parralysed, she knew that was his goodbye and she collapsed into herself, failing to hold in her emotion any longer, the tears that she had repeatedly cried for him began to fall again.
She didn't know that this was what he wanted her to do, he found it empowering to know that she would go back to him without a second thought. Their relationship had destroyed her, but made him. Now the end was doing the same; instead of demolishing her love for him, she pressed self destruct.

#2 Living in the toxic humanity

Wrath(anger), greed, sloth(laziness), pride, lust, envy, and gluttony.
The "seven deadly sins" that are present in all of us. Known as capital vices or cardinal sins, they may not sound too appealing. But we need all of them to be human.

We should feel wrath or anger if someone mistreats us or someone we care for, we need to so that we can be proud that we are able to share our opinion, stand up for our beliefs and protect those that we love, or even those that we don't know but need support.
We need greed so that we have the ambition to succeed and get what we want, but yes, it needs to be a give and take situation.
We all need to take time out, release your inner sloth! Take time to refresh, experience gluttony and indulge yourself. Just make sure that you've done enough to deserve the luxuries you're indulging yourself in!
Envy. It is horrible to experience, but if handled in the right way, it makes you work harder. Seeing someone as superior to you, makes you aspire to be on their level, or even above. So do it, get there, and be proud.
Lust = desire = aspirations. See, want, get. If you don't get, have pride and self respect, and move on!

Theses cardinal sins are like toxic chemicals. They are needed for use in various scientific things that I don't understand, but they need to be handled carefully or they will do serious damage.

#1 The dead do not cry

Not everything happens for a reason, sometimes it is your fault, and sometimes it's theirs. Either way, it can get too much. You feel the intensity of the guilt, or the passionate hate for someone you once adored. This is when you close your eyes, for the dead do not cry. Remember a time when times were simple, and you were happy, and be there. Then do it; act and think how you did in those times. Simplify everything.

It's okay if something goes wrong, and it is courageous to pick yourself up and noble to try again. You have more choices than you are aware of, it is not left or right. You define the choices yourself, you define yourself by those choices, and the more complex they are, the more impressive, wise and inspiring you become. These choices will make people love you, and make people loathe you. But have faith in what you do. Know that the people you need in your life, will stay throughout. The ones you lose along the way are like the few bulbs on the Christmas lights that don't work, they're there for the sparkle and attention, but contribute nothing, and in the end, are the reason you get thrown away.

In the words of the beautiful Amy Winehouse, "Our day will come, if we just wait a while. No tears for us, think love and wear a smile".

Caggie Dunlop

Cute, sexy and sophisticated. Three words that describe the beautiful Caggie Dunlop. She always looks impeccable, even when in casuals!

When You Wish Upon A Star And All That!

**Open Back Dress by Sister Jane

A Topshop beauty! For £75, all I need is the money to spare and the guts to wear a dress like this! With the black, leather collar and belt with gold charms, and no back, this dress is intense and sexy without showing too much, if styled in the right way, this dress could stay with you through day to night. It demands attention so be prepared!

Okay, so I know what you're thinking; sequined trousers, really!? But yes, why the hell not! It's nearly Christmas, so why not use the colours and just downright over-the-top-ness, as inspiration! I'm not saying base your look around a Christmas tree, but just give your style a little more oomph to cheer people up from the dark and cold evenings!
The blazer; simple, sleek and cinched at the waist. A perfect contrast to the trousers, which would apply balance to your look as well as showing off or creating a womanly shape, accentuating the waist and bust. From Miss Selfridge, at £45 it's a little too much to fork out as we're so close to Christmas, however think of it as an investment; you could wear it anywhere!
Now, the trousers. Priced at £30 from Lavish Alice, and considering the amount of sequins and effort that went into these, I think they're reasonably priced! They're a statement piece so you couldn't wear them two days in a row, unless you were in a different country, however they could become the item that you pull out at the last minute for an office party, or a surprise date!
The silk blouse from H&M at £20 is a bargain in my eyes! And along with the blazer, it is an affordable investment!
SHOEGASM. Aren't they gorgeous!? And only £25 from New Look, oh I could cry with happiness! Wear them anywhere, with almost anything and look and feel stunning; the perfect shoe.

Equality, Stereotypes and Desire

October 6th

Equality can never fully happen; to be blunt. I do believe that every person is equal, as we are all human beings, all living on the same planet and all have a life to live and a part to play. However, everyone is different. Everyone has their own strengths, and their own weaknesses. Meaning, there is no equality; there is similarity, but not equality.

I'm going to contradict myself a little here and say that I believe everuone should be treated equally Everyone deserves a fair shot at being what they aspire to be. If a woman wants to break out of a steroetype and become a builder, who has the right to stop her? No one. The only thing that should have an impact on what you become if your desire and your ambition. If you want something, go and get it! Work hard and set realistic goals that will get you where you want to be.

Ladies, why should we 'stay in the kitchen'? We shouldn't! And lads, if you're good at football, and enjoy it; fair enough, play it and be passionate about it, but f not, NO WOZZAS!

You need to know who you are and what you want, and then accept it! If you don't accept yourself, you can't expect anyone else to

(playlist at the bottom of the page)
My name is Jay Brooks. I have created this blog called "The Abnormal Convention", this will provide an insight into my surroundings, experiences and varied inspiration which impacts my style choices, as well as my lifestyle; I believe that my experiences enable me to empaphise with a wide variety of people, and for that reason, I will be providing an anonymous advice page.

And, would you like fries with that?

So, how can I help you? I am here to inspire, interest and innovate your style, as well as mine along the way! I will be providing something for everyone, with varied price ranges and body shapes!

I will be taking inspiration from varied magazines and putting my own spin on some of their features, such as 'catwalk to highstreet' from a favourite magazine of mine, still includes prices closer to catwalk than highstreet; it just isn't realistic enough, anyone deserves to feel and look good in what they wear, without having to declare bankruptcy!

Looking impeccable with minimal effort? Yeah, about that...this only applies to those with makeup artists, stylists and personal shoppers, therefore requiring minimal effort from the person themselves and lots of effort from those running around after them. I hate to break it to you, but looking good will take time and effort!

With my lifestyle posts I just hope to help anyone with troubles, I also want to share my opinion on a few things. Varying from larger issues, to the little things that are really irritating!

Thank you to every beauty reading this;
signing off with a nose crinkle and a giggle!
